Drinking a Lot of Water Sinks Fatal Heart Attack Risk
Good hydration may have positive impact on blood viscosity and hematocrit.

Vienna - Water. It does a body good
In a study of more than 34,000 Seventh Day Adventists followed for six years, drinking at least 5 glasses of water a day was associated with a significantly decreased risk of fatal coronary heart disease among those without CHD, stroke, or diabetes at baseline, Jacqueline Chan, PhD, reported at the 20th Congress of the European Society of Cardiology.
In a separate presentation, her associate Dr. Synnove F. Knutsen reported that among those with a history of CHD, stroke, or diabetes at baseline, drinking at least five glasses of water a day substantially lowered the risk of fatal stroke. Both investigators are epidemiologists at Loma Linda (Calif.) University.
Blood viscosity and hematocrit have previously been shown to be risk factors for heart disease and stroke. "We believe that good hydration has a positive impact on these risk factors," Dr. Knutsen said in an interview.

My doctor told me that if I didn't have a by-pass operation I'd have one year to
live. That was in September, 1996. I was persuaded not to have the operation
after the best customer that I had, through the livestock business, Charlie,
died after having a five way by-pass in New Jersey by the best doctors that
money could buy. They got a blood clot. It was the 11th of November of 1996 that
they buried Charlie. I made up my mind right then that there was going to be no
by-pass surgery. Live or die, there was going to be no by-pass.
I fought the doctors all along because I didn't believe I had a heart attack and
I still don't but they put me through all the tests and they said I did in fact
have one. But I got lucky about six months ago when ran into Bob Butts and we
sat here and talked. Bob walked me to the car and saw a bottle of Pepsi on the
seat. I was the kind of person who drank 8 to 10 cases of Pepsi a week. Bob
talked me into trying the water cure and I went home shaking my head but I said,
"What have I got to lose. You try it and if it doesn't work then you can go
back to the Pepsi". Well, I tried it and 5 days later I felt better than I
have in the last seven years. I don't understand how anything can help that
quickly, but it did. I get up in the morning and I'm ready to go. I haven't had
any problems that I know of since I started the water cure. I had an appointment
with my doctor and when he finished with my physical he looked at me and said,
"I don't know what the heck you're doing, but don't stop". I have been
adding salt to my food as well. I went to the pharmacy in Moscow, PA. and talked
to the pharmacist, Eric Pussay, and he said, "Dave, I have the tapes and
the books by Dr. Batmanghelidj and I don't see anything wrong with it." I
told Eric they're going to put you out of business and he said, "No way.
People are too stupid to believe this."
Back in September, on a scale of one to ten, ten being the best, I felt like a
five or six. They put me on heart medicine, monitored it, and did all the things
I guess they have to do, but they really didn't convince me that I had heart
trouble until they came in with a machine. They put it on my chest and when they
turned it on it sounded like a washing machine working. They told me that was my
heart. An operator explained what was on the screen. He told me that's where the
damage is and that's when I finally believed it did happen. Here we are thirteen
months later and on a scale of one to ten, I feel like a nine or ten. I have a
very strong sense of well being. I feel great and I do everything I want to do.
I want to add that if there is anybody out there that thinks that this is crazy
and it can't work, Try it! Four or five days is all I will say to you. If you
don't feel better in that time, then you probably aren't doing what Dr. Batmanghelidj says. I had a drought condition in my body.
